Many people are finding themselves in a state of disappointment after
using methods outlined in the DVD and book The Secret and its related teachings
and not making their dreams a reality.
These teachings point out how to take control of one's life and manifest
an ideal life using visualizations, lists and statements.
These methods do work, but it seems they don't work on everything. Why
is that?
The reason is because deep down in the person's subconscious mind, or
life pattern, there is something called a "counter intention".
You will also often find it called an “internal block”, but I personally
like the term “counter intention” better.
What is Counter Intention?
The area, or areas, of your life that take up most of your time, the
ones that worry you the most, make you suffer, yet the ones you spend
most time trying to fix, are the ones where there is a
counter-intention.
These are not external blocks, or the intentions of other people that
go against your own. These are deeply ingrained, emotion-energy blocks
in your own self that are there either from this life's learning or
from previous lifetimes.
The Fast Guide Series have a very specific instruction on how to get
past these counter-intentions, yet sometimes the latter can be so
strong that the person never reaches the step that deals with these!
If you have been reading self help books, using the Law of Attraction
and doing everything you can possibly do to overcome a certain problem,
or manifest a certain dream and you are not getting anywhere with it,
then it is time to stop trying and deal with your counter-intentions
instead.
There are three steps in dealing with a specific counter intention:
- Identify it.
- Acknowledge it
- Neutralize it
1. How do you Identify it?
The first thing you will notice is that no matter what you do, the situation does not change. For example:
You
want to be independently wealthy and you are instead in financial
trouble or completely financially dependent on another person. Yet you
have put a lot of effort in using self help tools to overcome your
financial situation, you might have started your own business or
businesses which flop, you can't make sales or increase your revenue no
matter how many tried and trusted methods you have used. This area
uses a lot of effort in your life.
Yet this is not your counter-intention. This is the result of your
counter-intention. So how do you go about identifying what is causing
all this?
Ok, this is where we get a little bit Mystical. There are various ways to identify the actual counter-intention.
- Ask
If you believe in Divine Guidance of some sort,
whether these are Angels, Guides, Ascended Masters, relatives who have
passed over or other non earthly beings, then ask them to show you what
your counter-intention is with regard this lack of results.
The answers might come as intuitions, dreams, a book, something someone says, a TV show and in many other ways.
- Feel
This is not related to the first way to identify
the counter-intention, Asking, but it works very well with it. Close
your eyes and feel your desired outcome. Now thank it and make it go
out of your mind, feel what there is behind it. Is it fear? Is it a
negative command or belief?
For example manifesting wealth, maybe deep down you were taught that
being rich was evil, or that it was selfish, or that it would bring you
nothing but problems.
- Trace
Write down a list of all your beliefs about your desire and beside it a list of the opposite:
Wealth is good - Wealth is evil
Wealth happens to me because I am (fill here) - Wealth doesn't happen to me because (fill here)
Make the list as long and thorough as possible.
Now, when you were writing the list, certain "negatives" made you squirm, or had other physical or emotional reactions.
Whatever method worked for you, the result has to be a physical, mental
or emotional reaction. This is when you do the next step; Acknowledge.
2. How do you Acknowledge Counter Intention?
You have to let the feeling, the physical reaction or mental play
overcome you. Let it flow and express itself completely while at the
same time "watching it". Don't get involved with it, just let it flow
and watch it. Then say something like "I acknowledge you" to it, or
"Thank you for expressing yourself to me".
3. Neutralize it.
This step is the simplest, yet it can take a long time to do fully,
particularly with really big counter-intentions so don't give up after a week!
- One
way to neutralize your counter-intention is to love it away. Yet it is
very hard to get one's mind around this concept. You can simply tell the feeling that you
have allowed to express, "I love you" over and over again until
it goes away by itself. If in the
middle of this you start thinking of something else, try to invoke the
feeling again and see if it still there. If it is, then carry on saying
"I love you" to it. You don't have to feel love for it at first
or at any time for it to work.
- If
you are good at visualizations and/or the above doesn't work for you, then
you can send a pure divine light to it, wrap it up with it, let it be
infused with it. This light can be white (for divinity), pink (for love),
purple (for connection) or green (for healing).
- If
you use a mantra in your life, or have a positive prayer from a religion
you are aligned with, and then send this mantra or prayer to the physical
reaction, feeling or mental play.
- Using
the Ho'oponopono method I recently learned from the book Zero Limits, you
can also say "I'm sorry, please forgive me, thank you, I love
you" to your Higher Self, or Divinity and bypass the feeling
altogether.
- An
absolutely fantastic way to neutralize it is to practice a teaching by
Esther and Jerry Hicks, in which you simply change your point of attention
to something you love. With this method, it is important to feel a
positive feeling when you do so. Their method is very effective and it
basically teaches that you must make an effort to always feel positive
feelings rather than negative feelings. So if you find yourself confronting
a negative feeling, simply stop giving it your attention and put your
attention on something that gives you positive feelings instead.
How do you know when you have succeeded?
When you no longer have the feeling, mental play or physical
reaction. And most importantly, when you are no longer attached to the outcome
of your visualizations. You still want them, but your happiness is not dependent on them coming true.
